17/02/2010 - Active Southampton has been working in partnership with Badminton England to increase the opportunity for residents to play badminton across the City.

We are pleased to announce a number of badminton projects coming to Southampton from March 2010. 

‘No Strings’ Badminton

Fun match play for adults! Pay for you, Not the Court! - No Strings Attached!!
No Strings offers everyone, any ability, the opportunity to play matches against other people within the community! Making Friends and Being Active!

A badminton co-ordinator will be on site at each of the locations below to offer advice, coaching tips and ensure you always have someone of a similar standard to play against.

‘No Strings’ is taking place at the following locations:

Bitterne Leisure Centre – Every Thursday 14.00 – 14.40

All sessions are £2 pay as you go, all abilities welcome, all equipment provided.
 
Access Badminton

Offers a supervised Professional Badminton Coaching Opportunity for disabled children/teenagers (aged 11-16years) giving them the opportunity to get active and have fun.

Access Badminton takes place at the following location:

Badminton Bonanza

Active Southampton joined forces with BADMINTON England last year to host the 1st YEHLEX Badminton Bonanza in the City which attracted over 100 participants. Here it is again! 

This year’s event will take place on:

Sunday 11th April 9.00 – 16.00 at Chamberlayne Leisure Centre
 
The event will split into a Social (Non Club Players) and League Competition (Club Players)
Affiliated Members £4 per person Non Affiliated £5 per person
 
Both Social and League competitions will feature the following categories:
• Men’s Singles
• Women’s Singles
• Men’s Doubles
• Women’s Doubles
• Mixed Doubles

All levels are welcome so come on down with your badminton racket and have some fun.
